Catskill Rod Co. Each of our rods is born from the finest materials available. Every culm of Tonkin cane is hand picked and flamed or left blonde, then goes through several drying processes in our state of the art oven that maintains a differential of one degree or less! Culm’s are hand split and nodes are meticulously pressed and filed to ensure ultimate beauty and performance. Strips are then hand planed and bound and heat treated again. Glue-up is done with Epon and heat set in our oven. Reel seats are of course Venneri, which are world renowned as the finest available, stripper guides are agate and nickel silver and snakes are ultra light TICH coated to maintain a traditional look and enhanced performance with modern technology.  Wraps are by Bob Benton of Pearsall’s gossamer silk and multiple coats of hand rubbed marine spar varnish. Fit and finish are second to none.    Our tapers are our own, the design being heavily influenced by master caster and fly-fishing guide John Miller. John's extensive knowledge of the masters along with his fishing experience has enabled us, through many trials, to craft a taper which we and our customers enjoy and we think you will as well. Our 7' 4/5 wt. is suitable to most trout fishing applications where a bamboo rod would enhance the experience. It can cast to 45' effortlessly and John can push it to 70'! The butt maintains enough strength to fight the largest fish while the tip is light enough to protect the lightest tippets. Each grip is made from a combination of burl and the best cork available to get a classy and durable grip and give that signature look of the Catskill Rod Company. Every rod has an agate stripping guide and the finest snake guides available. they are wrapped and tipped with the finest silk and painstakingly finished with a combination of Varnishes To obtain that classic clear look. Both the Catskill Hex and the Catskill Pent have a slight swell at the butt that make a powerful yet delicate that cast with ease. There is also a lifetime guarantee on materials and workmanship. Machine and Woodwork by Venneri Wraps and Finishes by Benton. 7’ 4 / wt Catskill Pent 5 This rod is a 7 foot 4 wt pent ( 5 sided rod) which can handle a 5 wt with no problem. It has a Venneris upslide reel seat with a stabilized spalted tiger maple insert The cork grip has a section of burled cork in the section that wears to insure a lifetime of use with no wear. The stripping guide is a speckled black to match the reel seat insert. The ferrule is made of nickel silver The taper is a little slower and lighter than the Hex but still gives that really soft presentation and has the tip to handle light tippets. It is a 2 piece 1 tip. It comes with a sock and an aluminum tube. Price: $900
6’2 4 /5 wt Catskill Hex This rod is a 6 foot 2 inch 4 wt which can handle a 5 wt with no problem. It has a Venneris Custon  reel seat with a ZebraWood grip and insert to insure a lifetime of use with no wear. The stripping guide is a red agate and the fine silk wraps are a chestnut brown. The ferrule is made of nickel silver The taper is a semi fast taper that really gives a soft presentation and has the tip to handle light tippets. It is a 2 piece with 2 matching tips and it comes with a sock and a wooden Hex tube of Catskills Cherry. Price  $1100.00
